Hey, guys! Sorry I’ve been catching up with work hence the lack of updates but finally, here’s part 1 of my first time in Seoul, Korea! Special thanks to KTO [Korea Tourism Organization] and Philippine Airlines for this wonderful opportunity! So excited to share with everyone all the fun things we did in South Korea! We flew in to Busan from Manila so first few posts will be fun places we went to/experienced in the area — did we spot zombies?! Stay tuned 😉
I first heard about the Gamcheon Culture Village from one of my besties Farrah who loves anything and everything Korean. Luckily, it was one of the highlights of this trip and it did not disappoint! For all the pastel loving ladies out there — you might find yourself wondering; ‘Is this pastel heaven?’. It’s located in the town of Gamcheon-dong, Saha District, Busan, South Korea and is highly popular among tourists and locals alike due to its picturesque and vibrant neighbourhood.
“Gamcheon Culture Villiage is formed by houses built in staircase-fashion on the foothills of a coastal mountain, earning this village the nickname of “Machu Picchu of Busan.” The many alleys cutting through this community are vibrantly decorated with murals and sculptures created by the residents.”
Just a short backround on the area — It was previously a slum area which has been recently enhanced last 2009 by various artists and students who brought magic into the every area with their art. They did a very, very good job don’t you think so?! It’s now one of the ‘must-visit’ attractions in Busan!
The vibrant neighbourhood is lined with numerous shops, cafés, and almost every corner is Instagram worthy! I’m a bit sad that we visited quite early hence most cafés were still closed. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future!
You can also buy a lot of souvenir items here! 🙂
Not sure what this pooping establishment is…but I think it’s ice cream?! Reminds me of the toilet restaurant I visited in Taiwan, hehe. Will definitely try when I visit again!
Man…parrots? The artists have so much imagination!
If you have more time when you visit, I think you can go down the small alleys and find more activities to do. Also spotted the cutest sleeping kitty on top of a roof.
Maybe one day I can have my artwork plastered on the wall as well, hehe.
Bookworm corner! This library themed staircase is definitely Instagram worthy!
Me to Tricia: “Omg, picturan mo ako parang Kdrama yung mukhang papasok ako sa school”
[Omg, take my photo like I’m about to go to school like in the Kdramas!]
Not sure what these are but I’m guessing couples leave their names here to seal their love?! Yihuw!
Aaaand, my favourite! The Little Prince photo area! Not sure if you’ve read or watched Le Petit Prince but every fan will be super excited to have his/her photo taken here!
Overall, a truly fun and memorable experience! Anyone who plans to visit this area soon? 🙂 Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below!
